Ana Aslan's pioneering work, in the field of geriatrics and gerontology, has made outstanding contributions to improving the quality of life for the elderly and developing anti-aging treatments. Her contributions have been internationally recognized, earning her a place of honour in the universal history of medicine. Her main credo and work were dedicated “to give life to years and years to life”. Gerovital and Aslavital are not only words, but facts, inter alia, demonstrating her scientific achievements.
In her message, Ligia Deca, President of the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO, emphasized the importance of the presence of women in scientific research:
"Women involved in scientific research can change perceptions, attitudes, behaviours, and social norms, thus fighting against stereotypes about the role of women in science. Events like today’s are even more important as they highlight the need for the efforts of all of us – decision-makers, the academic environment, non-governmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector – to ensure the principle of equal opportunities for women and men in all branches of science, including the natural sciences," stated Ligia Deca.
The recording of the event is available here, in Romanian. An English summary of the presentations will be published later on the Romanian NatCom website.
The Romanian National Commission extends its gratitude to National Commissions for UNESCO of Bulgaria, France, Poland, the Republic of Moldova, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for supporting this anniversary.
