Within the National Festival of Romance "The Golden Chrysanthemum", the organizers have initiated, in Targoviste, the "Youth of Romance" Academy project, which offers specialized training to a group of young performers selected in the Regional Preselections for the Interpretation Contest of the "Golden Chrysanthemum" Festival, as well as young performers from Dâmbovița County, interested in training in this field. The workshops, part of the "Youth of Romance" National Program, are supported by renowned artists with experience in performing romance, and other cultural and academic personalities in this field.
The activities of the proposed program allow a complex training of the participants in terms of improving vocal-interpretive qualities, stage presence, as well as viewing recordings with great performers of romance, exchanges of experience between soloists and lecturers, to help increase the artistic quality of the festival and the successful promotion of Romance in other associated events of the festival.
At the end of the courses, a concert entitled "The Youth of Romance" takes place in the „House of Romance” Museum, as an artistic form of closing the „Youth of Romance” Academy. The „House of Romance" in Târgoviște, a heritage location truly representative for the history of the Romance music genre and the National Festival of Romance "The Golden Chrysanthemum" in Târgoviște, is a unique museum in Romania, recognized nationally and internationally, which has truly become an embassy of culture in Târgoviște. The "Youth of Romance" concert is included as an associated event in the artistic program of the National Festival of Romance „The Golden Chrysanthemum”.
“The "Youth of Romance" National Program not only provides specialized training for young performers, but also offers them the opportunity to significantly enrich their music culture during the events held at the "House of Romance" in Targoviste, a museum which holds unique documents from the history of Romance, posters and old music scores, costumes, portraits of festival participants from over 50 editions, composers, laureates, actors, presenters, who participated from 1968 to the present day at the National Festival of Romance "The Golden Chrysanthemum” in Târgoviște, a music emblem of Romania’s culture that offered to the municipality of Târgoviște the well-deserved status of being a Citadel of Romance.” Alina Mavrodin Vasiliu, Director The „Citadel of Romance” Cultural Center for UNESCO.
