The Turkish National Commission for UNESCO organized a round table meeting in Istanbul to explore collaborative variations between the UNESCO National Commissions in South East Europe. In the exchange of experience, possible areas of cooperation between the Commissions were discussed and their good practices were highlighted, in order to identify common points of expertise and interest. It was also discussed the implementation of UNESCO’s sustainable development goals under UN Agenda 2030, as well as the opportunity to nominate multinational files of sites of UNESCO potential.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Nabi Avci, Minister of Culture and Tourism in Turkey and Prof. Dr. M. Öcal Oğuz, President of the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO. The National Commission of Romania for UNESCO was represented at the meeting by Iris Constantin, expert RNC UNESCO.
