Gala of the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO, 2019 edition

The National Commission of Romania for UNESCO - NCR UNESCO - organized on December 17th the IVth edition of the annual end-of-year Gala, which brought together institutional partners, respectively representatives of public institutions, civil society, the private sector, as well as other collaborators, personalities from UNESCO's fields of interest - education, sciences, culture, communication and information.
In the opening of the event, they took the floor Mr. Ani Matei, Secretary - General NCR UNESCO, His Excellency Mr. Ambassador Adrian Cioroianu, Permanent Delegate of Romania to UNESCO, Mr. MP Ionel Palăr, President of the Joint Standing Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate for the relationship with UNESCO.
It followed the presentation of a retrospective of the main projects of NCR UNESCO in 2019, respectively the second edition of the UNESCO Academy of Young Women, HeRe - Heritage Revivals - Heritage for Peace and Pleading for Intangible Heritage.
The program of the evening continued with the opening of the photography exhibition "Dacian Fortresses" and the projection of the documentary film of the same name, signed by the artist photographer Irinel Cîrlănaru, part of the multiannual program "Let's love Romania!", developed by the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO and the Association for European Cooperation Ovidius. The movie aims to popularize three of the six Dacian fortresses in the Orăștiei Mountains on the UNESCO World Heritage List, namely Sarmizegetusa Regia - Grădiştea de Munte (former capital of the Dacian kingdom), Costești Blidaru (one of the most powerful military fortresses of the Dacians) and Costeşti Cetățuia (considered the first residence of the Dacians). The materials also expose moments from the daily life of the Dacians, staged by the historical reconstruction group "Legio Dacica".
In the third part of the evening, diplomas were awarded to the institutional partners of NCR UNESCO, in recognition of the support offered in the activity of the institution this year.
The Royal Camerata, which this year marked 10 years since its establishment, completed the Gala’s program, through an exceptional musical moment, which was followed by a dinner.
