The year 2021 marks a double anniversary: 65 years since Romania's accession to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization - UNESCO - and 65 years since the establishment of Romania's National Commission for UNESCO - CNR UNESCO.
In this context, on September 6, 2021, CNR UNESCO, the Cultural Center "Mihai Eminescu" and the Romanian Patriarchate organized at the Palace of the Patriarchate the event "History and Art in Romania - Spiritual Perspectives". The program included thematic interventions, the opening of the fine arts exhibition "History and Art in Romania" prepared by the Cultural Center "Mihai Eminescu" and an exceptional concert by Gabriel Croitoru & Croitoru String Virtuosi Orchestra.
Madlen Șerban, Secretary - General of the CNR UNESCO, pointed out the purpose and context of the event: UNESCO conveys to the citizens of the world through its institutional motto that "peace is molded in the minds of women and men" and proposes that they adhere to this call through all that they think and undertake as citizens, individually or with their peers, in communities where they live together. Peace with yourself is fundamental in clarifying thoughts, intentions and action. In this way, we will find the resources to accept diversity, to view it as a wealth, to have confidence and to disavow conflicts.”
Speeches were made by the Most Blessed Father Patriarch Daniel, the President of CNR UNESCO Mr. Sorin Cîmpeanu, Minister of Education, Ambassador Simona-Mirela Miculescu, Permanent Delegate of Romania to UNESCO, Senator Vasile Dîncu, Joint Standing Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate for relationship with UNESCO, Mr. Secretary of State Victor Opaschi, State Secretariat for Cults, Mr. Cristian Chesaru, President of the Association of Romanian Christian-Orthodox Students, Mrs. Nicoleta Paninopol, Manager of the Cultural Center "Mihai Eminescu".
