On 2 and 3 september took place the eighth edition of "KARA ULÎS KURULTAI" - the International Festival celebrating Traditional Ethnic, Turkish, and Tatar Cultures. Hosted at the Venus summer resort, the event witnessed the gathering of 500 delegates from 40 countries and attracted an audience of over two thousand enthusiasts. Attendees were entertained with traditional sports, gastronomy, and crafts exhibitions. A standout performance was delivered by the Ottoman Fanfare of Bursa. The stage also featured performances by exiled Crimean artist Arslanbek Sultanbek Ulȋ, Tatar Nogai artist, and Kyrgyzstan's Toktogonova Mirabubu.
A highlight of the event was the demonstration of medieval wrestling by the Hungarian Turan Foundation, showcasing techniques from Hungarian medieval folklore. Furthermore, diplomats from Albania, Cuba, the UAE, and Turkmenistan engaged in a round table discussion concerning the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Additionally, a design competition was initiated for art and architecture students, challenging them to envision a Cultural Centre infused with elements of Tatar and Turkic traditions.
The event took place under the patronage of the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO.
