Romania joins, on Wednesday, March 11, the 16 states which already have decided, at national level, the temporary or indefinite closure of the pre-university education units, in an attempt to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The 16 states are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, China (including Hong Kong and Macao), Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. Another 16 states have implemented localized school closures.
UNESCO convened tomorrow, March 10, an emergency, virtual meeting of the Ministers of Education in the Member States, to share strategies to maintain learning continuity and ensure inclusion and equity. Romania will be represented by Mrs. Cristina Monica Anisie, Minister of Education and Research.
