Noah's impressions at the end of his volunteer experience

Six months have passed very quickly and my volunteer service is already over. I still remember very clearly my first days and impressions arriving in Romania. It has been a great experience, with a lot of new learning possibilities. I very much enjoyed being a volunteer with the Kulturweit program in Romania, hosted by the „Gavrilă Simion“ Eco - Museum Research Institute in Tulcea. I learned how a museum works and had the chance to participate in research field trips to experience the beautiful regions of the Danube Delta, as well as the wider Dobrogea.
Dobrogea surprised me. Coming to this area, I have heard about the Danube Delta, but never about Dobrogea. From my perspective, these regions are impressive and present a paradox. While they combine the youngest areas in Romania, they also possess some of the geological oldest areas in the country. The landscapes are unique in geological features, flora and fauna.
I enjoyed experiencing living next to a biosphere reserve in a different European country and getting impressions of the Romanian culture. I very much recommend visiting Tulcea, as well as the „Gavrilă Simion“ Eco - Museum Research Institute. Inform yourself about the natural area before a visit. I am very grateful for being part of the museum team for half a year and even more for my colleagues, who made my stay very enjoyable and teached me a lot about the region and their culture.
