On the occasion of the 40th UNESCO General Conference, the Sixth Interregional Meeting of the National Commissions for UNESCO was held in Paris on November 15-16, 2019.
This meeting provided the opportunity for an interdisciplinary dialogue on the strategic transformation of the Organization. The meeting also discussed the role of National Commissions in strengthening UNESCO partnerships.
At the session dedicated to sharing good practices and initiatives within the network of National Commissions, expert Dr. Daniela Popescu presented with the French side, represented by the Secretary-General Mr. Alexandre Navarro, joint activities of the Commission of Romania and the Commission of France to promote UNESCO's message in the fields of education, culture and gender equality. This Romanian-French bilateral cooperation was all the more important as it took place between two Commissions from countries belonging to different electoral groups in the region of Europe, thus contributing to the strengthening of European and regional cooperation.
The event was attended by leaders and members from 110 National Commissions, representing the 5 regional groups of UNESCO.
