Romanian - Cypriot cultural exchange

The National Commission of Romania for UNESCO, the European Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations (EFUCA), the Youth Center of the Bucharest City Hall, the Embassy of Romania in Cyprus and the Alumnus Club for UNESCO organized a Romanian-Cypriot cultural exchange between November 24 – 29, 2019, in partnership with Karavas City Hall.
The event was the XIth edition of the Metamorphoses project - and had the theme UNESCO Heritage Legacy for the Future. This activity expresses the second part of the project started in Suceava on June 20 - 25, 2019, a project that aimed at developing intercultural dialogue by knowing and capitalizing on the material and immaterial heritage, in terms of its diversity.
The activities carried out aim to bring the youth closer to the theme of heritage, offering as an example the exhibition of traditional objects ”From the grandmother's chest”, curator Cristina Vasilescu, opened on November 27th in Nicosia. The event was dedicated to the National Day of Romania, December 1st.
From NCR UNESCO participated in this cultural exchange Mrs. Daniela Popescu, expert of the Subcommittee on Interdisciplinary Programs.
The collaboration established for 2020 includes cultural and youth activities, which will be held under the auspices of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Romania and Cyprus.
