"Open Doors at NCR UNESCO" II-nd edition commemorates the Centenary of the Great Union in 1918 and celebrates the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018.
The end of "Open Doors at NCR UNESCO" program was marked on November 27th through the "Romania - UNESCO Gala”, at its 3rd edition, which brought together institutional partners of the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO, respectively representatives of ministries and institutions with UNESCO competences, as well as members of the foreign Diplomatic Corps in Bucharest, and collaborators, personalities from UNESCO's areas of interest - education, science, culture, communication and information.
“More than 60 years ago, Romania became a full member of UNESCO. Regardless of the complex and complicated political context, Romania's accession to UNESCO led to the resumption of the scientific, educational and cultural dialogue with the international community, contributing decisively, at different rhythms, to the integration of the values of Romanian education, science and culture into their universal pantheon represented by UNESCO. The symbiosis Romania - UNESCO has conferred to our nation the arguments and the certainty of a plenary and harmonious development and averment”, said Mr. Ani Matei, Secretary - General, National Commission of Romania for UNESCO.
In the Gala, it was launched the program "Let's Love Romania!", a partnership between the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO and Ovidius Association for European Cooperation. "Let's Love Romania!" aims to achieve, during two years, a series of documentary films and photo exhibitions that have as theme the 8 cultural and natural sites in Romania that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage: monasteries in Moldova, wooden churches in Maramureș, villages with fortified churches from Transylvania, Horezu monastery, Dacian fortresses in Orăştie, Sighişoara Fortress, Danube Delta and the Carpathian primeval and virgin beech forests.
The series "Let's Love Romania!" started, at the NCR UNESCO Gala, with the projection of Episode 1 - "Sighişoara" and the opening of the homonymous photography exhibition signed by Irinel Cîrlănaru. "Celebrating the Centenary involves respect for values, identity and unity. Because 2018 is the Year of the Centenary, but also the International Year of Heritage, we found it appropriate to launch the project this year with double meaning", said Florina Tecuceanu, project coordinator from the Ovidius Association for European Cooperation. The film and photo exhibition "Sighişoara" present symbolic images from the only city-fortress inhabited in Europe, entered into the UNESCO Universal Heritage in 1999.
The NCR UNESCO Gala has also included the handing out of excellence diplomas by Mr. Ani Matei, NCR UNESCO Secretary - General, to Romanian personalities, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the fulfillment and affirmation of UNESCO's ideals and objectives. They were honored with this distinction Ecaterina Andronescu, Răzvan Theodorescu, Mihai Constantinescu, Maya Simionescu, Sabin Stoica, Nicolae Manolescu, Mircea Dumitru and Liliana Ţuroiu.
The NCR UNESCO Gala was completed at the end by an exceptional artistic moment by master Marin Cazacu and the Violoncellissimo ensemble.
