UNESCO Days at POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest

POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest (UPB), UNESCO Department of "Engineering for Society" together with the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO organize between October 5 and 8, 2021, in the context of the 65th anniversary of Romania's accession to UNESCO, "UNESCO Days at POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest ”, an event that will take place on the university campus, with physical presence, as well as with online participation.
In July 1956, Romania joined the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Later, on September 21, the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO (CNR UNESCO) was established. The 65 years of public diplomacy, academic, cultural and intellectual cooperation have brought mutual benefits to both Romania and UNESCO.
The event will start on October 5 on the occasion of World Teacher's Day. The Minister of National Education Sorin Cîmpeanu, President of CNR UNESCO, Presidential Adviser Ligia DECA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Delegate of Romania to UNESCO Simona Mirela MICULESCU, UNESCO representatives, UPB Rector Mihnea COSTOIU, UPB Senate President Tudor PRISECARU, university teachers and students, representatives of the economic and social environment, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations.
"UNESCO Days at UPB" will include workshops dedicated to modernizing higher education in the context of sustainable development and the ethics of artificial intelligence as well as actions to promote UNESCO's cultural heritage in Romania: document and image exhibitions, painting and folk costumes exhibitions, heritage films and the activity of Romania in relation to UNESCO, as well as thematic actions with students and pupils.
The UNESCO Days at UPB continue the initiatives of the UNESCO Chair of UPB “Engineering for Society”, established in 2017, which consistently promoted the UNESCO mission on sustainable development and intercultural dialogue through education, science, culture, communication and information.
In line with UNESCO's strategic objectives of promoting creativity and cultural diversity, the UNESCO Chair has launched new international study programs, promotes scientific cooperation through European projects and collaborates on an ongoing basis with specialized international bodies, including UNESCO structures.
