Between August 8 - 11, the "Dimitrie Cantemir" Christian University organises in Bucharest the UNESCO Summer University - "The Culture of Peace and Education for Sustainable Development" having as partners the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO and the Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations from Europe and North America. To this project there have been invited young people from countries such as: Italy, Serbia, Moldova, USA, the Russian Federation, Belarus, Turkey and Romania. At the opening ceremony speeches have been held by: Prof. Dr. Alexandre Navarro - Secretary-General of the National Commission of France for UNESCO, Dr. Daniela Popescu – Expert NCR UNESCO, President of the Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations from Europe and North America, Prof. Dr. Titus Corlăţean - “Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University, Graţiela Ghic – Pro-rector of “Dimitrie Cantemir” Christian University and Prof. Dr. Octavia Costea, the coordinator of the project. According to the programme, the themes of debate for the upcoming days are: Peace culture and non-violence, World Heritage, Education and Sustainable Development.
