“Your country, your tradition” is developed under the patronage of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. The aim of the European Year of Cultural Heritage is to encourage more people to discover and engage with Europe's cultural heritage, and to reinforce a sense of belonging to a common European space. The slogan for the year is: "Our heritage: where the past meets the future". Details here.
Bancpost, a member of the Banca Transilvania Financial Group, expands nationwide the second edition of the “Your Country, Your Tradition” educational program, including 7 cities in the Caravan’s route, in order to allow a greater number of students to benefit from a unique cultural journey in the fascinating world of UNESCO Heritage in Romania. The 2018 edition will take place during May-June in Cluj-Napoca, Alba Iulia, Brașov, Timișoara, Brăila, Suceava, Iași and Bucharest and will gather students from 5th to 8th grade from over 60 schools enrolled in the program.
The “Your country, your tradition” education program is initiated by Bancpost in partnership with the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO, the Ministry of National Education and Gaspar, Baltasar & Melchior Association and aims to promote and transfer the cultural values, authentic traditions and customs towards the young generation, in order to offer true landmarks for the consolidation of their cultural identity. The first edition took place in 2017, when over 4.500 students from schools in Bucharest attended the dedicated sessions in an active manner. Beginning with 2018, the program benefits from the patronage of the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO.
The sessions combine theoretical and practical elements in order to spark the interest of children in an attractive and interactive manner. Thus, each meeting with the students is structured in two parts – The Heritage Hour – interactive multimedia presentation of 16 UNESCO objectives in Romania, and Practical Workshops, where the young ones experience the rich rural and artistic heritage from Romania. The structure, activities and educational materials are developed in harmony with the students’ expectations and their ability to assimilate.
“Both the students and the teachers’ interest and enthusiasm from last year encouraged and rewarded us at the same time, as it was the best way to measure success and the clear proof that, when the educational content is valuable and transferred with heart and passion to the young ones, their receptivity is just as expected. As a result, we continue the adventure by expanding our activity nationwide, so that as many students as possible can attend the “Your country, your tradition” sessions. Starting with this year’s extended edition, we invite each teacher, parent and Romanian to be #mandrudepatrimoniu (#proudofheritage) and to act in the spirit of transferring to the new generations the authentic cultural heritage, which we can take pride in all over the world,” stated Aura Toma, Marketing and Communication Executive Director at Bancpost.
“The second edition of the “Your Country, Your Tradition” educational program has a significantly larger coverage area than the previous edition. This remarkable fact is due, on one hand, to the organizers of the first edition and on the other hand, to the major interest shown by students and teachers for the knowledge and recognition of Romania's heritage values included so far in the UNESCO World Heritage. In this context, I refer to Bancpost as the main organizer, but also to the Ministry of National Education and Gaspar, Baltasar & Melchior Association, which I thank for their initiatives and efforts. The association of the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO to this program is a great honour to us and represents a viable partnership for the noble cause of knowledge and respect to the everlasting cultural and natural values of Romania.” stated Ani Matei, Secretary-General, National Commission of Romania for UNESCO.
„Your Country, Your Tradition” is part of the #bancpostpentrueducatie (#bancpostforeducation) platform of social responsibility, under which Bancpost is actively involved in the education of the new generations through multiannual programs nationwide. The social responsibility projects developed and implemented by Bancpost are oriented towards a sustainable and durable development, bringing long-term added value for communities.
Bancpost would like to thank the cultural institutions within the country which are supporting the “Your Country, Your Tradition” educational program, becoming hosts for the 2018 edition: Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania in Cluj-Napoca, National Museum of Union in Alba Iulia – Museikon section, Dr. Ioan Meşotă National College in Brașov, Bastion Multifunctional Centre in Timișoara, Carol I Museum of Brăila in Brăila, Bucovina Museum in Suceava and Moldova National Museum Complex in Iași.
